The founder of the Artificial Limb & Brace Center, Tom Arnold, is an amputee himself. Tom underwent the amputation of his left leg as a result of a motorcycle accident at the age of 17. He earned his B.S. in business from the University of Alabama in 1976 and then completed the Prosthetic and Orthotic Certification Program at UCLA. His credentials include certification by the American Board of Certification, (ABC).
In 1988, after recognizing the need for more and better prosthetic services in the area, Tom stepped in to fill that need, establishing the Artificial Limb & Brace Center in Anniston, Alabama.
